Literary Theory: Glossary Search

In Literary Theory you can consult The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Literary Terms (1990) for literary terms and their definitions. You can search by either Literary Term or Keyword.

Literary Term

From the Search page, you can use the Literary Term field to search for the definition of any particular literary term in the database. You can search by term when you already know the term you wish to look up: To enter terms in the Literary Term search box:

• browse a list of literary terms from which you can select names to transfer back to the search box;

or

• type your term[s] directly into the Literary Term search box.

Keyword

You can use the Keyword field to search for any word or phrase contained within a definition. To enter terms into the search box:

• browse a list of keywords from which you can select terms to transfer back to the search box;

or

• type your search terms directly into the Keyword search box. Search terms may consist of either single words or phrases.
